Virginia M. Carter Center for Excellence
The Virginia M. Carter Center for Excellence is a professional development initiative that supports the College's vision of putting learning first and promoting the continuous improvement of educational programs and services offered to students and stakeholders. The Carter Center’s focus is twofold, as professional development is both student-centered and a college-wide commitment.
- To provide support to educators at all DCCC locations who are on a continual journey to enhance their skillset and improve student learning, achievement, and retention for its diverse student population.
- To cultivate a culture of lifelong learning and professional growth that empowers all employees to strengthen their skillset with a variety of professional development opportunities.
Through tailored programs, resources, and advocacy/support, The Carter Center strives to enhance student learning, foster innovation in our academic programs and our many administrative units and drive organizational success. The Carter Center champions personal and professional development, elevates expertise, and inspires a community committed to excellence.

Delaware County Community College's Center to Promote Excellence in Teaching and Learning was renamed the Virginia M. Carter Center for Excellence to honor Dr. Ginny Carter, who retired in 2014 after 10 years at the College. Dr. Carter's continuous support for the Center during her tenure enabled its staff to significantly enhance the professional development programming for the College. With its emphasis on ongoing improvement through professional development, The Center is dedicated to continuing this important work.
