Faculty Innovation Grant
This grant is funded and made possible by the Office of First-Generation Student Success.
The goal of this grant is to increase the success of first generation students by developing and implementing active learning activities throughout courses across the College. Recipients of this grant will receive a temporary license for H5P, a tool used to create interactive content for students, and will be required to create H5P activities that can be shared for use or adaptation in courses across the college. Monetary compensation in the form of a Visa gift card will be awarded to the first 35 faculty who complete all grant requirements.
Eligibility: All faculty are eligible to apply for the Faculty Innovation Grant.
Grant Work Requirements & Process
- Consultation with a Center team member to review expectations and discuss activity types that will complement the curriculum and align with course competencies
- Learn how to create H5P activities
- Create at least five H5P activities to be shared or adapted for other college courses
- Choose one of the following:
- Participate in a roundtable discussion with other grant recipients hosted by The Center
- Present at a General Faculty Meeting
- Present at a Professional Development Program session
- Complete the debrief form that includes all of the following:
- Reflection upon the experience of using H5P
- Individual activity descriptions
- Explain how each activity aligns to course competencies and supports student success
Conditions
- Monetary compensation in the form of a Visa gift card is limited to first 35 applicants who complete all requirements (one award per faculty member)
- Grant requirements must be completed within four months from the assignment of the H5P license
- Continued usage of H5P license beyond the grant period may be permitted based on availability
- After grant completion, H5P license may be reallocated if inactive for eight months or longer
