My name is John Eppinger and I am currently in my second year of teaching here. I am an experienced Software Engineer Level II in which I used my skills to write voice response applications for a nationally-known financial services company and manage IBM pSeries servers for over ten years. I am married to a wonderful wife who puts up with me for my outside activities including fishing, Scouting, etc. I grew up in the Berwyn-Paoli area on the Main Line and attended Conestoga High School. Graduating from there I traveled south to Jacksonville, Florida to attend Jacksonville University in the 70s. In my lifetime I've lived in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland (for nine months), and in high school lived with a friend's family in Panama for one summer.

Before that I taught at The Anthem Institute in their CNS program for three years after earning a diploma in Computer Networking & Security. I am CompTIA A+ and Network+ certified and also have a diploma from the old CHUBB Institute.in Computer Programming. Most of my work experience comes from working in the financial services industry managing call center technologies including servers, software, databases, and telecommunications equipment. My Bachelor of Science degree was earned from Jacksonville University, Jacksonville, Florida.where I majored in Management.
Theoretical Approach, Experience, and Temperament
My experience in financial services IT has taught me that technical skills are best learned in an environment where IT people can learn visually combined with audio and hands-on approaches. My belief in this has caused me to use a 50/50 approach to concept vs application but sometimes a 60/40 approach depending on the skill sets of the students which I applied while teaching at The Anthem Institute.
