Don't Miss STEM Career Night February 23
(Delaware and Chester Counties, PA • February 2, 2017)— Delaware County Community College is hosting its tenth annual STEM Career Night on Thursday, February 23 and invites prospective students and their families to discover the exciting world of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The event features keynote speaker Ronald A. Bradley, Vice President of Gas Operations at PECO, and begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Academic Building Lobby at the Marple Campus (901 South Media Line Road, Media, PA).
Bradley has more than 30 years of experience in the natural gas and electric industry. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Widener University and a master’s degree in management from Pennsylvania State University. In addition to his keynote speech, participants will hear from a panel consisting of a current student, faculty member and alumni about what it’s like to pursue a STEM degree and career.
Attendees will also have a chance to learn about high-growth, high-paying opportunities from local employers, including Boeing, DePuy Synthes, Flowers Baking Co. of Oxford, Inc., GlaxoSmithKline, KBR, Omega Design, PECO, Pennsylvania Machine Works, SAP, Society of Manufacturing Engineers, Southco, Sunoco Logistics, Unidec, and XL Precision Technologies, Inc. Representatives from some of the College’s four-year partner schools will be on hand to offer guidance on how a student can graduate from Delaware County Community College and then transfer into a bachelor’s degree program. Delaware County Community College offers a variety of STEM majors, including Advanced Technology, CNC Programming, Science for Health Professions, Engineering, Mathematics and Natural Science, and more. The College’s commitment to STEM education includes a state-of-the-art STEM Complex, comprised of the Advanced Technology and STEM Centers, giving students access to the tools and technology they need to succeed. The Complex boasts more than 11 science laboratories and 12 specialized labs for customized education and training.
In partnership with several local companies and philanthropists, the College has more than $150,000 in scholarship money available for students pursuing a STEM major. STEM Career Night is free and open to anyone interested in learning about a career in the field. For those who do not pre-register, be sure to do so in person from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Academic Building Lobby.
