(Delaware and Chester Counties, PA)—Delaware County Community College’s SpectiCast series continues with an HD broadcast of Swan Lake on Sunday, November 3, 2013, at 2 p.m. in the Large Auditorium in the Academic Building on the Marple Campus (901 S. Media Line Road, Media, PA).The performance marks the first time the ballet is being presented to U.S. audiences in an HD broadcast screening from the city where it was created— and by the company which produces many of the greatest dance stars.
This special event— celebrating 275 years since Russian ballet began—was recorded live from the historic Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, Russia on Thursday, June 6, 2013. For the first time ever, this classic ballet will use the same Academy Award®-winning technology created by the Cameron Pace Group for films such as Avatar, Hugo and Life of Pi.
Lyrical, mysterious and dramatic, the Theatre creates an imaginary world where Prince Siegfried and the swan-princess Odette affirm their love for each other, conquering the forces of evil. Tchaikovsky's ravishing music combines with peerless choreography showing Mariinsky's famed corps de ballet in all its beauty. The ballet stars Ekaterina Kondaurova in the classic role of Odette.
Now in its fourth year, the College’s SpectiCast series brings the classical realm of music, dance and opera closer to home for residents of Delaware and Chester Counties. Each performance is produced using a state-of-the-art audiovisual system and is choreographed to capture the fullness of the orchestral performance and the intimacy of the on-stage experience. Performances are filmed live in some of the greatest venues around the world and then broadcast at the College. The next performance is of La Boheme on December 8, 2013.
Admission is $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and $7.50 for students and children. Tickets are available for purchase online (www.dccc.edu/the-arts) and at the door 45 minutes prior to each show (cash only). For more information, please call 610-359-5266 or visit www.dccc.edu/the-arts.
