(Delaware and Chester Counties, PA)— If you are a graduate of the New Choices Career Development Program at Delaware County Community College, Director Sandy Gera is looking for you to help celebrate the program’s milestone 30th anniversary in 2013.
Since 1982, the program has helped thousands of women and men reestablish their lives and find employment through its classes, career counseling and job search services. The name has changed over the years from "New Beginnings," to "New Choices/New Options" before taking on its current name New Choices Career Development Program; however the program is the same with an intensive seven-week, career guidance program of classes, individual counseling and networking with employers.
"When the program began, it was all women and mostly displaced homemakers," says Gera. "The program now includes men as well as women in different stages of work transition. Some are underemployed, but most are unemployed, and everyone is looking for a way to not just survive but to thrive with meaningful work in this economy."
Regardless of the name of the program or when they participated, Gera, the board and staff are looking to make contact with all graduates so that they can be kept up to date regarding the 30th anniversary and future events.
"It's a great time to come together to network, share their experiences, celebrate 30 years of achievement, and support new graduates," Gera adds.
Graduates of the program are encouraged to contact New Choices to ensure that they are in the database for announcements and further details. For further information, and to make sure you are on the mailing list, call 610-359-5232 or email newchoices@dccc.edu.
