Gu-Zhen Virtuoso Chao-Ming Tung to Perform at Delaware County Community College
(Delaware and Chester Counties, PA • November 3, 2011)—The Performing Arts Center at Delaware County Community College is pleased to present gu-zheng (古箏) virtuoso, Chao-Ming Tung, accompanied by Ensemble Noamnesia on Sunday, November 7, at 3 p.m. (doors open at 2 p.m.). The concert will be held at the Marple Campus in the Academic Building (large auditorium).
The concert will feature traditional Chinese music and contemporary works for the gu-zheng (Chinese Zither) performed by experimental music specialists, Ensemble Noamnesia. These works by Chao-Ming Tung and Philadelphia-based composer, Gene Coleman, will utilize video and electronic sound to fully explore the sonic possibilities of the ensemble.
Chao-Ming Tung is a Taiwanese-born composer based in Cologne, Germany. His composes instrumental, vocal and electro-acoustical works. He has also written pieces for multimedia performances for dance and visual arts.
Chao-Ming Tung began composition studies at the Chinese Culture University in Taipei and continued his training at the Musikhochschule Koeln in Germany. He works as a freelance composer and musician and facilitates East/West cultural exchanges. He is the composer in residence of China Found Music Workshop in Taipei and serves as guest professor at Ciao Tung University in Taiwan.
