My Lived Experience with Bipolar Disorder: Sharing my Story to Help End the Silence and Break the Stigma

Please join guest speaker Jess Moyer, National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) “Ending the Silence” presenter, certified NAMI “In Our Own Voice” presenter, and NAMI support group co-facilitator as she shares her powerful story of living as a student with Bipolar Disorder. Jess is a part-time student currently finishing her degree in Business Administration with Drexel Online. Jess will discuss her trajectory with Bipolar Disorder, including the challenges she faced while managing her disorder, and how it adversely impacted her academic success, health, and relationships. Jess will discuss the experience she had with treatment of her Bipolar Disorder, and how taking ownership and practicing acceptance was a crucial catalyst for change. Jess will share her story of rebuilding a fulfilling life, including the coping strategies and resources that are most helpful to her, her story of being able to successfully return to school as an adult student, and how NAMI helped her during this journey. Jess will also discuss how she became involved with NAMI as an advocate, her views on the importance of advocacy in mental health, and how NAMI may help others.
