Frequently Asked Questions
Who is Eligible?
The program is open to all adults seeking to jumpstart a career in Skilled Trades. High School juniors and seniors may enter the program through the Dual Enrollment initiative.
What is the Cost?
PACE+, through the PA Department of Labor, provides funding for tuition and fees for a limited number of students; it is, therefore, important to apply and register early. In addition, a tool box is presented to students who complete the first three courses in the program. Textbooks are not covered. (PACE+ graduates who continue their studies to complete the Certificate in either Residential Electricity or Residential Carpentry are eligible to apply for Kelleher Connect Scholarships which can cover all tuition and fees needed to complete the remaining certificate requirements.)
What if I Need a Tutor or Need Extra Help in the Classroom?
PACE+ has you covered. All students have access to all of the support programs offered through the College, including those from the Career and Counseling and Student Success Centers.
Does the College Help with Transportation?
The College provides a shuttle between the Marple Campus and the Southeast Center location and the Upper Darby location. Visit the Campus Shuttle web page for more information.
The Marple Campus is serviced by SEPTA’s bus routes 112, 115 and 118. The Upper Darby Center is serviced by SEPTA’s trolley line from the 69th Street Transportation Center. The Southeast Center is serviced by SEPTA’s Wilmington/Newark rail line and bus route 115.
Students may also qualify for assistance through the Student Resource Center in the form of SEPTA key cards and Uber rides to resolve specific needs.
Upon Graduation, What are the Next Steps?
Graduates of each program will have what it takes to apply for an apprenticeship. Graduates will have job entry skills and understand the rigor and responsibility that come with an apprenticeship program. Graduates will leave the program with a resume and also have experience writing cover letters and completing applications.
