Grand Re-Opening of Large Auditorium Featuring Performance by Concertmaster David Kim on 12/2

(Delaware and Chester Counties, PA)—Don’t miss a performance by David Kim, world-renowned violinist and Concertmaster of The Philadelphia Orchestra, at Delaware County Community College on Sunday, December 2, 2012. Sponsored by PNC, this grand opening event marks the first performance in the College’s renovated Large Auditorium (Academic Building, 901 S. Media Line Road, Media, PA) and includes a reception at 2 p.m. followed by the concert at 3 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for seniors and students with a current ID.
The performance repertoire includes Brahms’ Sonatensatz, Beethoven’s Sonata No. 1 in D major, Kreisler’s Liebesleid and Caprice Viennois, and Sarasate’s Carmen Fantasy. Jeffrey DeVault, an instructor at the College, will accompany Kim on piano.
Named the Concertmaster of The Philadelphia Orchestra in 1999, Kim has performed with numerous orchestras around the world. He serves as an Artist in Residence at Eastern University and regularly presents master classes at various schools and institutions, including Juilliard, Yale, and the Korean National University of the Arts.
The College’s Large Auditorium has recently undergone extensive renovations that include an enlarged stage, luxury seating, theatrical lighting, an AV system with simulcast capability, a surround sound system and all-new decor. Each semester, students and residents of the Delaware County region have access to concerts featuring some of the world’s top musicians.
