The College Hosts Fifth Annual Engineering Career Day

(Delaware/Chester Counties, PA)—In recognition of National Engineering Week (February 19-25), Delaware County Community College will host its fifth annual Engineering Career Day on Thursday, February 23, at the Marple Campus (901 South Media Line Road, Media, PA). Tours of the College’s STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) Complex will begin at 4 p.m., with the formal program running from 5 to 8 p.m. Sponsored by the Boeing Company, the event will be held in the main lobby and large auditorium of the Academic Building.
Anton Germishuizen, Director of Design, Senior Vice President and a member of the Board of Directors at Stantec, will give a keynote presentation on how to achieve success in this increasingly global industry. During his 16 years at Stantec, Germishuizen has emerged as a leader in both management and design.
After the address, participants will have the opportunity to network with representatives from local employers, including Boeing, PA Machine Works, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and Southco. Students and prospective students can also discuss transfer opportunities with representatives from several of the College’s four-year institutional partners such as Widener University, Temple University and Penn State Brandywine.
The College offers both associate degrees and certificates in traditional and nontraditional engineering disciplines. Considered a high-growth, high-wage industry, the field offers an exciting spectrum of career choices, including architecture, manufacturing, electronics, computer networking, construction management and robotics.
Engineering Day is free and open to anyone curious about the field. Those interested in attending are asked to register by calling the Admissions Office at 610-723-4000. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be held March 1.
