Resident Awareness Seminar Prepares for Emergencies

(Delaware County) If severe weather hits and you were forced to evacuate your home, where would you go? How would you communicate with and locate loved ones? Do you have a stockpile of needed supplies?
The Institute for Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness at Delaware County Community College, the Delaware County Council, the Delaware County Emergency Services and the Local Emergency Planning Committees will present a free seminar on Resident Awareness and Emergency Preparedness. The seminar will be held at the Marple Campus, (901 S. Media Line Road, Media, PA) on September 22 from 7 to 9 PM, in Founders Hall, room 4523.
The seminar will offer critical information regarding actions to take in advance of or during an emergency. Topics includesheltering and evacuation; preparing an evacuation supply kit; creating a family emergency plan; staying informed before and during disasters.
Emergency services specialists will discuss steps to take to help ensure the safety of your loved ones and your home. Participants will hear from the experts directly involved in the various emergency response plans, alerting and notification systems, sheltering requirements, evacuation procedures, and what to do with your pet in an emergency.
Participants will receive a Preparedness Guide listing shelter and evacuation instructions, a supply kit list, suggestions for a family emergency plan, important phone numbers, and a county map.
Advance registration is required.
