College's SpectiCast Series Presents "The Merry Widow"

Music and Opera Performances Broadcast in HD
(Delaware/Chester Counties, PA)—The spring 2012 season of Delaware County Community College’s SpectiCast series kicks off Sunday, January 8, at 2 p.m. with a “live” simulcast of Franz Lehar’s opera Die Lustige Witwe (The Merry Widow). The performance will be broadcast in HD and held in the STEM Center Auditorium Room 1403 at the Marple Campus (901 S. Media Line Road, Media, PA).
Now in its second year, the College’s SpectiCast series brings the classical realm of music, dance and opera closer to home for residents of Delaware and Chester Counties. Each concert is produced in real time using a state-of-the-art audiovisual system and is choreographed to capture the fullness of the orchestral performance and the intimacy of the on-stage experience.
The 2012 series begins with the North American première of Die Lustige Witwe. This three-act operetta is conducted by Manfred Honeck and is in German with English and French subtitles.
