(Delaware & Chester County, PA) – Knowledge gained through training and life experience could be turned into valuable college credit. Free information sessions at Delaware County Community College will help students discover ways to earn academic credit for learning acquired outside the college classroom.
Information sessions on credit for prior learning will be held on Tuesday, October 11 at 5:30 PM at the Marple Campus, STEM Center Auditorium – 901 South Media Line Road, Media, and Wednesday, October 12 at 5:30 PM at the Downingtown Campus, Room 237, 100 Bond Drive, Downingtown.
Prior learning assessment can help students to attain college credit for learning they have already mastered outside the traditional college classroom. Students come to college from a variety of backgrounds and experiences, some of which may involve college-level learning. Credit received for prior college-level learning may be applied toward many programs of study. Prior learning assessment allows students to complete their college education sooner and at a much lower cost. Information will be available on the College-Level Examination Program (CLEP), credit by examination, transfer of credits from other colleges and portfolio development.
Assessment advisors will be available to help students identify practical and relevant life experiences, such as professional workshops attended, volunteer activities, military, or technical training classes equivalent or closely related to the learning expectations of the College’s courses.
For more information or to register for one of the sessions, call the Assessment Center (Monday through Thursday from 9 AM to 8:30 PM and Friday from 9AM to 4:30 PM) at 610-359-5322.
