Don't Miss STEM Career Night February 26
(Delaware and Chester Counties, PA • February 4, 2015)— Delaware County Community College is hosting its annual STEM Career Night on Thursday, February 26 and invites prospective students and their families to discover the exciting world of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The evening features keynote speaker Michael Fitzgerald, president and CEO of Acero Precision, a leading manufacturing company located in Newtown Square. The event begins at 5 p.m. in the Academic Building Lobby on the Marple Campus (901 South Media Line Road, Media, PA).
In addition to Fitzgerald’s keynote speech, participants will hear from a panel of current students, faculty and alumni about what it’s like to pursue a STEM major. Afterwards, attendees will have a chance to discover today’s high-growth, high-paying career opportunities from local employers, including Boeing, Brandywine CAD Design, Exelon Generation, Moog, Pennsylvania Machine Works, Southco and Unidec. Admissions staff from some of the College’s four-year partner schools will also be on hand to offer guidance on how a student can graduate from Delaware County Community College and then transfer into a bachelor’s degree program.
Delaware County Community College offers a variety of STEM majors, including Advanced Technology, CNC Programming, Engineering, Mathematics/Natural Science and more. The College’s commitment to STEM education includes a state-of-the-art STEM Complex, comprised of the Advanced Technology and STEM Centers, that gives students access to the tools and technology they need to succeed. The Complex boasts more than 11 science laboratories and 12 specialized labs for customized education and training.
In partnership with several local companies and philanthropists, the College also has $102,800 in scholarship money available for students pursuing a STEM major.
