SpectiCast Series Presents Verdi's "Nabucco" on April 27
(Delaware and Chester Counties, PA, April 9, 2014)—Delaware County Community College’s SpectiCast series concludes its spring 2014 season with an HD broadcast of Giuseppe Verdi’s opera Nabucco on Sunday, April 27, 2014, at 2 p.m. in the Large Auditorium in the Academic Building on the Marple Campus (901 S. Media Line Road, Media, PA).
Nabucco tells the story of Nebuchadnezzar, ancient King of Babylon, who went mad after proclaiming himself God. It is one of the most popular works in the history of opera and was Verdi's break-through in 1842. It features the most famous of all opera choruses "Va, pensiero," which is a tune known to more than just opera lovers. This is an opera of epic proportions and the staging presented truly conforms to this spirit: horses, pyrotechnical special effects and more than 400 participants take to the stage. The program runs 145 minutes long with a 15-minute intermission. The broadcast is in Italian with English subtitles.
Now in its fourth year, the College’s SpectiCast series brings the classical realm of music, dance and opera closer to home for residents of Delaware and Chester Counties. Each performance is produced using a state-of-the-art audiovisual system and is choreographed to capture the fullness of the orchestral performance and the intimacy of the on-stage experience. Performances are filmed live in some of the greatest venues around the world and then broadcast at the College.
Admission is $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and $7.50 for students and children. Tickets are available for purchase online (www.dccc.edu/the-arts) and at the door 45 minutes prior to each show (cash only). On-site parking is free. For more information, please call 610-359-5266.
