Free GED Classes Offered at Delaware County Community College
(Delaware County, PA) In these difficult economic times, and amidst drastic cuts in funding, Delaware County Community College continues to offer free General Educational Development (GED) classes to residents in Delaware County. This program, funded by a federal grant issued by the PA Department of Education and the Bureau of Adult Basic Literacy Education, enables residents to a brighter future by completing their education.
Spring 2011 classes will be held in Darby, Drexel Hill, Media and Sharon Hill. In addition, Math Only classes are available at the Southeast Center for students needing additional help to prepare for the GED Math Test.
The program is open to residents 18 years and older who have not gone through the traditional primary and secondary education process. The GED classes, taught in a classroom setting, cover Social Studies, Science, Literature, Writing and Math. Students will also have access to a Career Counselor for guidance and recommendations throughout the program.
Schedules and registration forms may be obtained at the Main Campus on Media Line Road, the Southeast Center at 2000 Elmwood Road, Sharon Hill.
“Our GED program goal is to create a direct channel between students who complete the GED test and higher education,” explains Karen Kozachyn, Associate Dean of Community and Corporate Education. “The faculty and staff support students by connecting them with peer mentors and career counselors in hopes that they would continue their education at the College.”
