College Receives Grant from IBC's Nurses for Tomorrow Scholarship Program
(Delaware and Chester Counties, PA • August 15, 2016)—Delaware County Community College recently received a grant from Independence Blue Cross Foundation’s Nurses for Tomorrow scholarship program in the amount of $11,644. The grant will support scholarships for eligible students enrolled in the College’s nursing program during the 2016-17 academic year. This is the thirteenth year that the College has received this grant.
The nursing program at Delaware County Community College is fully accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing and fully approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. Both a day and an evening/weekend program are available and classes are offered in two locations—the Marple Campus in Delaware County and at The Chester County Hospital in Chester County. A total of 192 new students enroll in the program each fall.
Upon successful completion of the Associate of Applied Science in Nursing, students can sit for the NCLEX-RN licensure examination and transfer to an RN to BSN program. Delaware County Community College has transfer articulation agreements with many local colleges and universities offering the BSN. This includes a special joint degree partnership with Drexel University that offers qualified students the opportunity to simultaneously earn an RN at the College and a BSN at Drexel.
