New Music Concert Series Presents Dolce Suono Trio on April 15
(Delaware and Chester Counties, PA • March 30, 2018)—Delaware County Community College’s New Music Concert Series continues with a performance by Dolce Suono Trio on Sunday, April 15. The performance begins at 3 p.m. in the Large Auditorium of the Academic Building on the Marple Campus (901 South Media Line Road, Media, PA).
Dolce Suono Trio, Dolce Suono Ensemble’s highly acclaimed trio of flute, cello, and piano, evolved organically from the longstanding collaboration of flutist Mimi Stillman and pianist Charles Abramovic and are joined by cellist Nathan Vickery to explore and expand the repertoire of this captivating combination.
The program for their performance at the College showcases American classics and some of the major new works commissioned by Dolce Suono Trio, with music by Barber, Beach, Rorem, Jennifer Higdon from DSE's new recording "American Canvas," and a world premiere by Richard Belcastro, Delaware County Community College Professor of Composition.
Dolce Suono Trio is renowned for its contributions to the repertoire through its arrangements and commissions the latter including works by Pulitzer Prize-winning composers Jennifer Higdon and Shulamit Ran and Grammy-winning composer Richard Danielpour. As part of its high-profile trio + voice repertoire, the ensemble has performed with stellar artists including Lucy Shelton, Sarah Shafer, Randall Scarlata, and singers from the Washington National Opera Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist Program at the invitation of Plácido Domingo. The ensemble has won grant awards including from the National Endowment for the Arts, Koussevitzky Music Foundation, Fromm Music Foundation, William Penn Foundation, and the Knight Foundation. The trio’s innovative program Música en tus Manos (Music in Your Hands) combines its engagement initiative with the Latino community with programming that includes chamber and popular music from Spain and the Americas.
