Artist Statement
My photography is my comfort —my way of retreating into the world in front of me. Since I was a young kid, I could be found waving my point-and-shoot camera around, wanting to capture everything there is to see. I am constantly calculating different compositions of what is around me. My favorite subjects consist of abandoned places, textures found in nature, and repetitive patterns. The images I produce are both art and a documentation of how I see my surroundings.

My fascination with the world has long manifested itself in images that lack a human subject, far away from the stress of human interaction. One example included in the gallery is a series of images I took of the Wildwood boardwalk. My main interest lies in defunct places where human life once existed, because they offer an experience of quiet reflection on what was once there. Recently I have expanded my work to include images where there is a human subject. In doing this I have only just begun to find the beauty in candid moments between photographer and model. I don’t yet know what I want my area of expertise to be but in the future, I hope to find my niche as I continue to explore different kinds of photography.
