Procedures for Submitting Work

Any Delaware County Community College student is invited to submit work for consideration for publication in Pegasus, the College’s literary magazine.

For full consideration, work should be submitted according to the guidelines (see below). Entries are reviewed and considered for selection by a jury of students and faculty based on a specific set of criteria. Only the coordinators know the authorship of each work until the selection process is complete.

All items of short fiction, creative nonfiction, drama, artwork, or photography must be submitted electronically with this form and all of its required fields complete.

First

In 1-2 sentences, please identify the genre of your submission, what the piece is about, and how long it is.
Max. file size: 2 MB.
Files must be less than 2 MB. Allowed file types: pdf doc docx.

Second

Write 1-2 sentences about the inspiration for writing the piece, what you like best about it, how long it took, etc.
Max. file size: 2 MB.
Files must be less than 2.34 MB. Allowed file types: pdf doc docx.

Guidelines for Submitting Entries to Pegasus

Submission Guidelines
  1. All entries must be original work. Submissions cannot be copied or plagiarized from any other source.
  2. Literary entries must be word processed and submitted by attaching a Word or PDF document (Cute PDF free-ware can help you convert your files). Contact Pegasus with any concerns. Please do not submit word processed documents containing graphics.
  3. The following must be listed on your submitted document or it will not be accepted:
    • Your name
    • Student identification number
    • Phone number
    • Email address
    • Title of the entry
  4. If you do not wish your name to appear in the magazine, you may choose to use a pen name. You must provide your name on the submission form (above) in order to be considered for publication.
  5. A title is required for each entry. If the entry is untitled, it should be labeled “Untitled.”
  6. All written documents must be typed in conventional manuscript form. Literary work should be as grammatically correct as possible: check your spelling and use of words. Poetry should be typed exactly as you would like it to appear in the magazine.
  7. Please number all pages.
  8. All kinds of art may be submitted, but keep in mind that the magazine is not produced in color and artwork will be scaled down to fit the page. Submissions should be high resolution (300 dpi is optimal) 8x10s. Photographs of sculptures will be accepted. Contact Pegasus with any concerns.
  9. Portraits need to have the signed permission of the model: the signed release should be scanned and attached to this web form. Contact Pegasus with any concerns.
  10. The magazine will not accept more than three submissions per person.
  11. Each submission must be entered via a separate web form.
  12. Submitting work grants editorial privilege– however, you will be notified if any major changes are made to your work.
  13. Entries will not be returned. Be sure that you have a copy for your files.
