The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is a collaborative resource for students, faculty and staff that fosters exploration and understanding of diversity of all kinds. Through DEI programming, College partnerships and opportunities for continuous education, the office promotes systematic ways that we can work to create more inclusive and equitable spaces on our Marple campus, our branch locations and beyond.
Mission: To serve as the central unit for all at the college to pursue resources, grow understanding and advance excellence in diversity, equity and inclusion.
Center for Equity & Social Justice
The Center for Equity and Social Justice at Delaware County Community College contributes to dismantling systems of racism and social injustice within our community by providing ongoing opportunities for meaningful dialogue that creates awareness, promotes education and understanding and leads to transformative change, equity and social justice for all people.
Student Resource Center
The purpose of the Student Resource Center is to enhance student wellness, engagement, success, retention and completion by supporting our students comprehensively from the initial day of enrollment through degree completion and beyond.
International Students
The College welcomes International students from all over the world. We provide support services for our International students to achieve academic success while at the College.
Institutional Diversity Committee
The College's Institutional Diversity Committee has been a long-standing committee with origins rooted in recognizing and addressing racism at the College. Since its inception, the IDC has been responsible for countless projects and initiatives that honor and uplift diversity of all kinds.
Disability Services
The College ensures equal access to all of its educational opportunities for students with disabilities in compliance with Section 504 of Rehabilitation Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, 1990 and the ADA Amendments Act, 2008.
Related Programs & Departments
College-Wide Reading Program
The College-Wide Reading Program is an initiative intended to provide a common reading that encourages thought, discussion, and collaboration at Delaware County Community College. Titles are selected by popular vote from all members of the College community and all are invited to participate in related activities throughout the academic year.
DEI Certificate
This non-credit certificate program will create understanding and grow leadership skills in diversity, equity, and inclusion. Each unit is interactive and advances from building conceptual knowledge to applying newfound skills. Participants walk away with experience having challenging conversations and envisioning equitable solutions within their social spheres.
Black & Latino Male Empowerment Initiative
The purpose of this initiative is to improve the academic success rates, retention rates, graduation rates, and overall experiences of Black and Latino males enrolled at Delaware County Community College. The initiative seeks to fulfill this purpose through achieving goals including: completing a needs assessment, evaluating existing programs, enhancing cultural competencies, increasing support of Black and Latino males, and improving visibility of campus programs geared toward the empowerment of Black and Latino males.
Safe Space Training
the College's Career & Counseling Center offers training opportunities and workshop events with an intention to foster a safe space for our students, faculty and staff, with a pledge to become stronger allies ;(no matter of our own identity).
