High School Equivalency Tests (GED)
Delaware County Community College operates as an official Pennsylvania GED Testing Center for residents in Delaware and Chester Counties.
The GED testing consists of four separate tests: Language Arts Reading and Writing (150 minutes, including 45 minutes for the written essay); Mathematics (115 minutes), Science (90 minutes), and Social Studies (70 minutes). Candidates who successfully pass the GED test will earn a Commonwealth Secondary School Diploma.
The General Education Development credential measures high school level knowledge and skills and is accepted as an equivalent to a high school diploma by 98 percent of colleges and 96 percent of employers. Delaware County Community College offers preparation for candidates interested in earning their GED credential. Adult Basic Education levels and more advanced preparation classes are available.

GED Test Preparation - Math only
(supports Science needs)
This is a 25-hour test preparation course supporting Math skills. Students will learn test taking strategies, as well as the reinforcement of Math skills (previously learned). The skills taught in this section will support your needs for the Science portion of the GED.

GED Test Preparation - Reading/Verbal only
(supports /Social Study needs)
This is a 20-hour test preparation course supporting Reading/Verbal skills. Students will learn test taking strategies, as well as the reinforcement of skills (previously learned). The skills taught in this section will support your needs for the Social Studies portion of the GED.

GED Testing
Exam Info
- The GED exam is a computer based high school equivalency exam that is proctored in our Pearson Vue Test Center.
- The exam is four sections: Language Arts, Science, Mathematics and Social Studies.
- Must be 18 years old. 16–17-year-olds must contact GED for special registration information.
- Exam cost is $36.00 per module.
- A Pennsylvania identification will be needed for testing. Out of state residents please check the GED website for valid identification requirements.
- Candidates can access GED information, study materials and registration information at www.ged.com.

Registration for the Exam
Registration is online through www.ged.com. Please note: You must be at least 16 years old to sign up for MyGED™. Cost of test: Total test $144. Payment is made online. You may schedule for one or more tests at a time. The cost per subject is $36. Sign up online through any computer, tablet or smartphone.

On the Exam Day
- Test candidates are required to show proof of Pennsylvania residency since diplomas are issued through the State Department of Education.
Generally, a PA driver's license or other PA state issued ID containing a photo, signature and address is acceptable - Calculators are built into the examinations, however, test candidates are permitted to bring their own TI 30XS calculator.
No other calculators are permitted. - Test candidates are permitted to leave the testing room only during a scheduled break.
Checking your scores
- Results are posted on your MyGED account within a few days.
- Once you pass all 4 test subjects, go to www.education.state.pa.us/GED
- Download the transcript order form
- Complete and send it in with the required fee.
