As a multidimensional phenomenon, “student success (achievement)” entails a number of inter-related achievements, such as growth in autonomy and responsibility for one’s own life, identifying, and refining when appropriate, goals, and the pro-active engagement in creating and (sustaining) fulfilling an appropriate academic plan (direction) that prepares the student for a productive and active engagement in society. Specifically, then, student success is the achievement of those competencies that support the achievement of his or her goals.
